UWA Catch Music Pilot Project

In September and October 2007, Catch Music ran a pilot project with the University of Western Australia, the goal of which was try out the concept of a community music program. For us, it was kind of like a pilot project for the idea of Catch Music itself. Thankfully, it went really well!

Eight students from the UWA School of Music were involved, together with ten other young people from the wider community. For eight weeks, the group met together on a Wednesday night and spent an hour making music. Each person was paired up with someone else from the group for one-on-one music sessions. Some people learnt an instrument, some wrote their own music and lyrics, and others just had fun listening to their favourite CDs!

Throughout the project, we asked a couple of guys to take some video footage of what was going on. We converted this footage into a short video clip, which we've uploaded onto YouTube. It’s quite a cool little clip. If you want to watch it, it’s very easy, just click here.
