Volunteer Musicians Wanted

Do you love helping others and giving back? We are looking for volunteer musicians to join our weekly sessions. If you’re looking for a rewarding experience and think you can donate your time and skills, we’d love to hear from you!


VOLUNTEER MUSICIAN OVERVIEW


The Volunteer Musician attends a Catch Music session to share their musical skills and knowledge, to support the inclusion of all participants and promote good musical outcomes.


KEY RESPONSABILITIES


Key tasks of the Volunteer Musician include:


  • Regularly attending a Catch Music session and assisting as required – e.g. setting up and packing away PA and other music equipment. 
  • Contributing musically to the sessions by playing their instrument of choice (including voice)
  • Helping new members feel welcomed and comfortable in the group.
  • Supporting individual participants to interact meaningfully in the session – e.g. assisting a participant to play chords on a guitar or keep in time on a percussion instrument.
  • Learning about Catch Music and its ethos of inclusion.


SKILLS AND QUALITIES


Key skills and qualities the Student Volunteer should have include:


  • A love of music.
  • Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to warmly engage with group participants.
  • A genuine desire to see music being enjoyed by all members of the community no matter what age or ability.
  • Musical ability on at least one instrument.


REPORTING & SUPPORT


The Volunteer Musician is directed and supported by the session’s Music Facilitator, with additional support available through the  Catch Music Coordinator.
